New Heights Christian Academy 3, Lockwood 2

New Heights Christian Academy earned its first win over the season in five sets after defeating Lockwood 25-16, 13-25, 33-31, 25-27 and 15-11.

Lilly Plassman had 22 service points for NHCA, including seven aces, while Allie Stout had 18 points in service.

Toryn Fink finished with 11 kills, while Ava Lett was right behind with 10.

Caitlyn Meppelink finished with a team-high 36 assists, while Plassman added a team-high 62 digs on the defensive end.

Meppelink, Lydia Hipple and Karly Dorris all had three blocks.


Carthage 3, McDonald County 0

Carthage opened the season on a high night, sweeping McDonald County 25-7, 25-14 and 25-8.

The Tigers were led by Jaidyn Brunnert’s 13 assists, five kills, nine aces and two digs, while Briley Jadwin added 10 assists, two aces and four digs.

London Shepherd had seven kills, two aces and two digs, while Millie Templeman had six kills, three aces, a block and a pair of digs. 

Elsie Willis finished with three kills, two aces and two digs.

Peyotn Ray had three kills, three aces and a dig, with Sadie Comer adding six digs and Ryleigh Horton finished with three kills and a block.


Nevada 3, Joplin 0

Nevada opened the season with a win after defeating Joplin 30-28, 25-19 and 25-23.

“It was an exciting, great first game of the season and I am so excited to see what these girls accomplish moving forward!” Joplin volleyball coach Emily Killion said.

Amy Kessler led the Eagles in kills with seven and blocks with five.

Adalynn Noirfalise had 29 assists, while Lucy Erisman led the team in digs with 11.

Lydia Barwick had three aces.
