This past Saturday, Webb City’s boys and girls cross country teams delivered strong performances at the SWCCCA meet in Bolivar, with both teams finishing fifth overall, showing promise as the season progresses.
The Cardinals boys team, despite being relatively inexperienced, impressed with their fifth-place finish.
Junior Andrew Dawson led the team, placing 22nd with a time of 16:27. Fellow junior Noah Lankard followed closely, finishing 29th at 16:30. Freshman Sawyer Dalrymple and sophomore James Baldassaro also contributed solid performances, placing 46th and 48th with times of 16:58 and 17:05, respectively. Freshman Aaron Dawson rounded out the team’s top five, finishing 72nd with a time of 17:23.
The Webb City girls varsity team, featuring a mix of youth and experience, also secured a fifth-place finish.
Junior Brooke Hedger stole the show by finishing first overall with a time of 18:30, setting a new meet record. Sophomores Emma McKinzie and Olivia Klotz finished back-to-back in 32nd and 33rd place, clocking in at 20:33 and 20:34, respectively. Junior Brooke Collard and sophomore Amelia Antillon placed 50th and 54th, finishing with times of 21:03 and 21:06.
As the season continues, both Webb City teams are aiming to build on their strong start, with hopes of achieving their goals by the season’s end.
