Joplin's Tindall, Carthage's Foust are athletes of the week

Joplin cross country runner Chance Tindall and Carthage girls golfer Addie Foust have been named the Zimmer Marketing’s Male and Female Athletes of the Week brought to you by JL Mobile Truck and Trailer Repair for the week ending on Sept. 13.

Tindall, a senior, had quite a journey at the Ray-Pec Invitational on Sept. 14. After falling behind early, Tindall finished strong and came in fourth place in a time of 16:06.90.

“When we ran a couple of weeks ago at Bolivar, he didn’t perform very well,” Joplin coach Dora Eastin said to JoplinSportsHub.com. “Him coming back this week, running and getting fourth is definitely a boost to his confidence.”

Foust, a junior, was the top performer at the Carl Junction Invitational at Briarbrook Golf Course with an even-par 72 to take first place. Her even-par round was the lowest score at Briarbrook in Carthage program history. After shooting a round of 105 last year, to say a 33-shot improvement is remarkable would be an understatement.

“It’s incredible.” Carthage coach Jamie Newman told JoplinSportsHub.com. “You just don’t hear about that very often. I have had kids jump like that if they are going from shooting 120 to 90. I’ve just never had a kid go from 105 to par in a year. That just doesn’t happen. It’s incredible.”

Coaches can use this contact form to nominate athletes for recognition by send the name, sport and stats for the week.
