Zimmer Marketing is proud to present our Week 4 Game of the Week with Class 5 fourth-ranked Carthage hosting Class 6 fourth-ranked Nixa brought to you by JL Mobile Truck and Trailer repair.
“I think it’s a great opportunity for our team to be able to play in a game like this, especially early in the year,” Carthage head coach Jon Guidie said to JoplinSportsHub.com. “They’re very, very talented and are playing very well. They’re doing a lot of good things over there. It should be an exciting atmosphere.”
The game is at Haffner Stadium and is scheduled for 7 p.m. Carthage and Nixa both enter the contest with a 3-0 record.
Nixa has wins over Republic (49-14), Webb City (55-21) and Joplin (49-0).
Carthage has wins over Waynesville (55-7) and Ozark (42-6) and is coming off a 49-14 win at Glendale. In the win, the Tigers saw Landyn Collins rush 20 times for 131 yards and four touchdowns. Brady Carlton added two rushing touchdowns and 51 yards on the ground, while throwing for another 59 in the air.
Though winning in the trenches is a staple for every football program, it's especially a point of emphasis for both Carthage and Nixa.
“I think we are very similar in terms of what we like to do offensively—which is line up, play physical, run the football and sprinkle in some play-action every once in a while,” Guidie said when asked what the biggest key in this game will be. “We’ve played these guys every year for the last several years. It seems like it's always a good battle up front. It will be a big test for both of our offensive lines and defensive lines in determining that outcome.”
