WEBB CITY 34, NEOSHO 28
WEBB CITY, Mo. — In the Zimmer Marketing Game of the Week brought to you by JL Mobile Truck and Trailer Repair, Webb City rallied back to beat Neosho in a Central Ozark Conference action.
The Cardinals improved to 3-2, while Neosho suffered its first loss of the season and is now 4-1.
Webb City’s Jackson Lucas completed 7-of-11 passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns and he carried the ball 19 times for 106 yards and two more touchdowns.
Slade Hurd picked up 92 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, while Mason Williams picked up 90 yards on 11 carries.
Andrew Young caught two passes for 52 yards and a score, while Joseph DeGraffenreid caught two passes for 35 yards and a touchdown.
For Neosho, Cade Spiva threw for 109 yards and ran 25 times for 136 yards and a touchdown. Denver Welch carried the ball 23 times for 96 yards and two touchdowns. Keisean Rhone carried it twice for 37 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Brody Eggleston had 17 total tackles, two pass deflections and fumble recovery for Webb City, while Trey Hardin and Matthew Scott each had 12 total tackles.
REPUBLIC 49, JOPLIN 38
Republic was in the hold 24-21 at halftime before the Tigers outscored the Eagles 28-14 in the second half en route to the COC win.
The win gives Republic a 4-1 record, while Joplin falls to 3-2.
Daniel Rose passed for 249 yards and two touchdowns, while Toryn Jones rushed 13 times for 70 yards and two touchdowns.
Layne Royal caught three passes for 127 yards and two scores.
Defensively, Andrew Snider had 16 total tackles, while Collis Jones had an interception and a fumble recovery.
CARTHAGE 49, WILLARD 14
CARTHAGE, Mo. — Carthage held a seven-point lead at the intermission before outscoring Willard 28-0 in the second half on the way to a Central Ozark Conference win.
The win gives Carthage a 4-1 record on the season.
Carthage gained 570 yards compared to Willards 188 yards of offense. Carthage also won the turnover battle 2-1.
Brady Carlton completed 9-of-12 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown, while adding 15 carries for 145 yards and another touchdown.
Landyn Collins rushed 23 times for 132 yards for three touchdowns on the ground.
Karson Murray caught two passes for 44 yards and a score.
CARL JUNCTION 42, HILLCREST 13
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Carl Junction held a slim 14-13 lead at the intermission before outscoring Hillcrest 28-0 in the second half to earn a convincing Ozark Mountain Conference win.
The win gives the Bulldogs a 4-1 record.
Gavin Cowger knocked down two field goals (27 yards, 29 yards) and Marcus Lopez-Durman added a 9-yard touchdown run to give CJ a 14-13 lead by halftime.
Tony Stewart and Lopez-Durman each had stellar second halves, scoring a touchdown in each the third and fourth quarters.
Carl Junction rushed for 383 yards in the win as a team, totalling 424 yards of offense. Hillcrest had 212 yards of offense.
Lopez-Durman rushed for 203 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries, while Stewart finished with 15 carries for 142 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively, O Mondestin had 10 tackles (six solo), a sack and a tackle-for-loss.
SENECA 56, AURORA 14
AURORA, Mo. — Class 3 second-ranked Seneca started fast and didn’t look back in a win over Aurora.
The Indians (5-0) scored 14 unanswered points in the first period before taking a 49-7 lead into the intermission. Seneca cruised in the low-scoring second half.
The Indians gained 454 yards of offense, while the Houn’ Dawgs picked up just 215 yards of offense. Seneca rushed for 323 and passed for another 131.
Roman Miller scored on the ground from 3 yards out and Hagen Ginger hauled in a 25-yard touchdown pass from Kaden Clouse to take the momentum in the opening period.
Klouse scored on the ground and threw a pair of touchdown passes to Blaze Graham (43 yards and 36 yards) in the second quarter.
Miller added a 30-yard gallop for a score in the second quarter, while Brodie Probert added a 9-yard rushing score.
Probert broke loose for a 70-yard touchdown in the third quarter.
Clouse passed for 124 yards and three touchdowns, while rushing for 20 yards and another score. Probert had 142 yards on the six carries to go along with two touchdowns. Miller had 102 rushing yards and two scores on 13 rushes.
APPLETON CITY 54, NEW HEIGHTS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 50
APPLETON CITY, Mo. — It was a back-and-forth clash that saw Appleton City come out on top over New Heights Christian Academy.
The Cougars are 3-2 on the season.
Logan Decker completed 17-of-27 passes for 213 yards and a touchdown, while rushing 16 times for 61 yards and two touchdowns to lead New Heights Christian.
Levi Durling carried the ball 17 times for 58 yards and three touchdowns, while Cannon Miller carried the ball eight times for 51 yards and a score.
Miller also caught nine passes for 140 yards and a score.
Decker added 21 tackles on defense (six solo) for the Cougars.
