Local athletes shine at Ozark 7 Conference track meet

The Ozark 7 Conference Track and Field Meet brought together top athletes from schools across the region, delivering a day of thrilling competition and standout performances. Held under clear skies, the meet highlighted the depth of talent in both the boys' and girls' varsity divisions, with New Heights Christian Academy and Thomas Jefferson Independent School leading the charge in the team standings. Below is a recap of the top three individual finishes in key events and the overall team results for both boys and girls

BOYS RESULTS

The boys’ sprints were dominated by New Heights Christian Academy’s senior duo, Logan Decker and Levi Durling. In the 100-meter dash, Decker claimed first with a blistering 11.41 seconds, followed closely by Durling at 11.48.

Thomas Jefferson’s Roman Brake rounded out the podium with a 12.23.

Durling flipped the script in the 200-meter dash, taking gold in 23.19, with Decker (23.53) and Thomas Jefferson’s Jack Twiss (24.66) in second and third. Durling continued his dominance in the 400-meter dash, clocking 52.21, ahead of McAuley Catholic’s Alex Bohachick (53.45) and Twiss (53.69).

In distance events, McAuley Catholic’s Michael Parrigon shone brightly, winning the 800-meter run (2:03.00) and 1600-meter run (4:36.58).

Thomas Jefferson’s Liam Cook (2:04.96) and Will Mollnow (2:21.85) took second and third in the 800, while Thomas Jefferson’s Will Twiss (4:38.49) and Braden Honeywell-Lynch (4:38.98) followed Parrigon in the 1600.

Twiss secured the 3200-meter run title (10:12.36), with New Heights’ Colton McMillan (10:18.89) and McAuley’s Franklin Veer (10:32.98) in tow.

New Heights athletes swept the hurdles, with Derek Bowman winning the 110-meter hurdles (17.05) and David Williams taking the 300-meter hurdles (43.82). Williams (17.86) and Thomas Jefferson’s Sheraz Anis (18.11) followed Bowman in the 110, while Bowman (45.17) and McAuley’s Max Anreder (46.86) trailed Williams in the 300.

In field events, Decker excelled, winning the high jump (1.93m) and long jump (6.58m). McAuley’s Franklin Veer topped the triple jump (12.29m), and McAuley’s Nolan Minor won the pole vault (2.44m). Max Anreder led the discus (29.77m), Roscoe Miller took the javelin (42.24m), and Wheaton’s Jacob Bittle claimed the shot put (12.27m).

GIRLS RESULTS

The girls’ sprints saw fierce competition, with Exeter’s Honesty Hall edging out New Heights’ Ella Nelson in the 100-meter dash (13.92 to 13.97), followed by New Heights’ Allie Stout (14.20).

New Heights’ Jesalin Bever won the 200-meter dash (28.73), with Nelson (28.94) and Hall (29.81) close behind. Nelson redeemed herself in the 400-meter dash, clocking 1:05-path.41, followed by Thomas Jefferson’s Kirra Moser (1:05.85) and Stout (1:07.00).

Distance events showcased Thomas Jefferson’s Macie Shifferd, who won both the 1600-meter run (5:40.63) and 3200-meter run (14:19.10). New Heights’ Marla Anderegg (6:06.49) and McAuley’s Olivia Parrigon (6:08.88) took second and third in the 1600, while Thomas Jefferson’s Vivian Sharp (14:37.93) and Anderegg (15:16.72) followed Shifferd in the 3200. Parrigon won the 800-meter run (2:37.13), with Anderegg (2:44.70) and Moser (2:49.40) in second and third.

Bever dominated the hurdles, winning the 100-meter hurdles (17.81) and 300-meter hurdles (50.35). Hall (20.58) and New Heights’ Lily Moore (21.40) followed in the 100, while New Heights’ Truly Prater (58.00) and McAuley’s Samantha Perrin (58.37) trailed in the 300.

In field events, Thomas Jefferson’s Anna Hiebert won the high jump (1.50m) and long jump (4.62m). Exeter’s Kaylyn Weiser topped the triple jump (8.94m). Thomas Jefferson’s Lannah Grigg excelled in the discus (32.23m) and shot put (9.55m), while teammate Maggie Sutton won the javelin (27.51m).
