CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — Carl Junction boys golf delivered a memorable performance at Briarbrook Golf Course, securing a second-place finish with a team score of 301 to qualify for the Class 3 state tournament.
The Bulldogs, competing on their home turf at the par-72 layout, showcased depth and individual brilliance, while Webb City’s golfers also posted notable scores despite a sixth-place team finish.
Carl Junction’s State-Bound Success
Carl Junction’s path to state was paved by a stellar team effort, finishing just 12 strokes behind district champion Helias Catholic (289) and comfortably ahead of Camdenton (317) and West Plains (319).
Senior Jack Spencer led the charge, firing a 69 to claim second place individually, just two strokes shy of Helias Catholic’s Lake Bennett (67). Junior Logan Lowry added a 73, finishing fifth overall, while junior Austin Edward Baker carded a 79, tying for 11th. Freshman Cohen Elick contributed an 80, placing 16th, and freshman Brock McNary Spencer rounded out the scoring with an 83, tying for 24th.
The Bulldogs’ 301 underscored their consistency, with all five golfers finishing in the top 25 individually.
Webb City’s Individual Efforts Shine
Webb City, finishing sixth with a team score of 342, missed the team cut for state but saw strong individual performances. Senior Jackson Matthew Lucas led the Cardinals with an 81, tying for 17th, while senior Jackson Cale Pickett followed closely with an 82, tying for 20th. Senior Derrick Michael Wagner scored an 87, placing 33rd, and freshmen Ethan Goostree and Andrew Scott Woodmansee posted 92 and 94, respectively, tying for 41st and 48th.
