Carl Junction and McDonald County each had strong showings at the Class 4 District 6 track and field meet over the weekend, with each school sending several athletes to the upcoming sectional meet.
BOYS: CARL JUNCTION AND MAC COUNTY STANDOUTS
In the boys' 100-meter dash, Carl Junction's Quincy Thomure and William Coats delivered impressive performances, finishing third (11.09 seconds) and fourth (11.18 seconds). The 200-meter dash saw Thomure finish fourth (22.37 seconds).
The 400-meter dash was a strong event for McDonald County, with Aidrian Short earning third (50.46 seconds) and Dominic Navin close behind in fourth (51.61 seconds). In the 800, McDonald County's Miguel Mora secured fourth (2:02.82).
Distance events highlighted Carl Junction's strength, particularly in the 1600, where Isaac Willoughby took third (4:30.87). In the 3200, Willoughby earned second (10:05.48).
Carl Junction excelled in relays, taking second in the 4x100-meter relay (43.28 seconds), while McDonald County earned fourth in the 4x200-meter relay (1:31.41) and second in the 4x400-meter relay (3:23.68).
In field events, Carl Junction's Jett Mills and Austin Swarens finished second (1.93m) and fourth (1.85m) in the high jump. The long jump saw Carl Junction's Ryder Pyles take fourth (6.5m). In the triple jump, Pyles took third (13.23m) and Hanks placed fourth (12.88m) for Carl Junction. Carl Junction's Gavin Beachner took third (16.03m) in the shot put.
GIRLS: CARL JUNCTION AND MAC COUNTY STANDOUTS
McDonald County's Samantha Dowd was a standout in the sprints, winning the 100-meter dash (11.91 seconds) and 200-meter dash (24.72 seconds). Carl Junction's Sydney Ward followed closely, earning second in both events (12.08 seconds and 24.95 seconds), with teammate Olivia Battagler taking fourth in the 100-meter (12.39 seconds).
The 800 saw Carl Junction's Marissa Newman take second (2:23.96).
In hurdles, Carl Junction's Bella Montez took second (48.16 seconds) in the 300-meter hurdle.
Carl Junction dominated the relays, winning the 4x100-meter (49.41 seconds) and 4x400-meter (4:08.17), and taking second in the 4x200-meter (1:47.54).
McDonald County won the 4x200-meter (1:46.38) and placed third in the 4x100-meter (50.67). Carl Junction took third in the 4x800-meter (10:31.01).
In field events, Carl Junction's Deziree' Williams and Miley Kim tied for third (1.5m) in the high jump. The long jump saw Carl Junction's Williams take third (4.98m).
Carl Junction's Brooke Jasperson won the pole vault (3.15m), with McDonald County's Anjelika Alarcon placing third (2.87m).
The javelin saw Carl Junction's Madilyn Olds take first (46.43m), with McDonald County's Dakota O'Brien in second (43.36m). In the shot put, McDonald County's Zamora took third (10.67m).
