New Heights and Thomas Jefferson compete at state tournament

The Class 1 State Golf Tournament at Meadow Lake Country Club concluded with New Heights Christian Academy and Thomas Jefferson making their mark.

The two-day, 36-hole event Lockwood High School claimed the team title, but local standouts from New Heights and Thomas Jefferson drew plenty of attention.

New Heights Christian Academy finished sixth overall with a team score of 719 (361-358).

Leading the charge was senior Hudson Clevenger, who carded a 173 (91-82) to finish 27th individually, showcasing a strong final round to help his team’s effort. 

Other Cougars included senior Logan Decker (177, 41st), freshman Nixon Maningas (185, 62nd), junior Corbin Cronenwett (187, 65th), and senior Gavin Doll (188, 69th).

Thomas Jefferson’s sole representative, sophomore Jack Twiss, delivered a standout performance, finishing tied for 8th with a total score of 163 (80-83). Twiss’s steady play, including a strong opening round, placed him among the tournament’s elite, earning him All-State honors.
