JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — New Heights Christian had several athletes compete at the Missouri Class 2 State Track and Field Championships over the weekend.
Jumps Add to the Medal Haul
Senior Logan Decker was a standout in the field events, particularly in the long jump, where he claimed the gold medal with an impressive leap of 6.68m. Decker’s jump, achieved despite a slight headwind, edged out Adrian’s Colton Miller by 0.13m.
Decker also competed in the high jump, clearing 1.88m to take sixth place, further bolstering New Heights’ field event success.
Sprinters and Hurdlers Make Their Mark
In the boys’ 400m dash, senior Levi Durling secured fourth place in the finals with a time of 50.37 seconds, just 0.04 seconds shy of the podium. In the 100m dash prelims, Durling also competed, running 11.28 seconds to finish 11th overall, narrowly missing the final.
Distance Runners Excel
New Heights’ distance squad shone brightly, led by junior Colton McMillan in the 1600m and 3200m runs. In the 1600m, McMillan ran 4:37.56 to secure 13th place. He stepped up in the 3200m, earning a seventh-place finish with a time of 9:52.55, a personal best.
Relay Team Shows Teamwork
The New Heights boys’ 4x100m relay team, anchored by Durling and Decker, delivered a solid performance, finishing eighth in the finals with a time of 46.56 seconds.
