Webb City baseball tops Carl Junction to win districts

Webb City broke a three-all tie with a five-run seventh inning to beat Carl Junction 8-3 in the Class 5 District 7 title game.

Webb City advances to the Class 5 Quarterfinals, where the Cardinals host Platte County in a best two-out-of-three series at Chuck Barnes Field starting on Friday.

The Cardinals used single tallies in the thor and fifth innings to tie the Bulldogs at 2-2 before both teams traded runs in the sixth inning.

Mason Williams had two hits, two RBI and three runs scored for Webb City. Brock Renfro and Brody Eggleston each had two hits and two RBI.

Brody Pant had two hits and scored two runs to lead the Bulldogs.

Luke Beverlin started and took a no-decision for Webb City after allowing three runs in five innings. Tate Lewis earned the win in relief after pitching two scoreless innings, walking one and striking out three.

Deacon Endicott started and took a no-decision after allowing two unearned runs on four hits and eight strikeouts in five innings.
