Diamond softall falls to Warsaw in state title game

In a true pitcher’s duel, Warsaw came away with a 1-0 victory over Diamond in the Class 2 state title game on Wednesday.

Diamond finishes the season with a 28-8 record, graduating seniors Chassidy Doby, Kabrie Parmley, Lauren Turner and Sara Roszell.

Neither team scored in the first two innings before Warsaw touched home in the third inning on an RBI single from Brylee Brewster to take advantage. It was nothing but zeros on the scoreboard the rest of the way for both teams.

Brewster also earned the complete-game win in the circle after scattering three hits over seven scoreless frames. She struck out 11.

Diamond’s Taelyn Reeder was stuck with the tough-luck loss after allowing one run on five hits in six innings with 12 punchouts.

Aubrey Ball had two hits, including a double, while Reeder recorded the other Diamond base hit.
