Joplin pitcher Landry Wilson and Thomas Jefferson track and field athlete Macie Shifferd have been named the Zimmer Marketing Male and Female Athletes of the Week brought to you by JL Mobile Truck and Trailer Repair.
Wilson, a senior, had a dominant outing on the bump for Joplin in the district title game against Nixa last weekend. Wilson carved up Nixa, allowing just one run on three hits, four walks and a strikeout in a complete-game effort. Wilson led Joplin to a 3-1 victory.
Shifferd, a senior, earned a gold medal in the 3200-meter run, crossing the finish line first place in a time of 11:41.62. Shifferd also added a fourth-place finish in the 1600 with a time of 5:27.01.
