Blue Springs South takes Game 1 from Joplin

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. — Blue Springs South built a four-run lead and went on to win 4-1 in the opening game of the Class 6 quarterfinals on Friday.

The Eagles and Jaguars match up in Game 2 at noon on Saturday. If Joplin forces Game 3, it will start at 2:30 p.m.

Ashton Nance earned the complete-game win for BSS, allowing one run on four hits and four strikeouts over seven frames.

Brecken Green took the loss after allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits and five strikeouts in six innings.

Laynes Royle had a hit and scored a run for the Eagles, while Landy Wilson had two hits at the plate.
