Joplin falls to Blue Springs South to end season

Joplin baseball fell to Blue Springs South 7-3 a day after losing 4-1 in the quarterfinal round of the Class 6 state playoffs.

The loss closes the season for the Eagles, which end the year with a 17-18 record. Joplin graduates seniors Braxon Grough, Dominic Leesman, Kutler Schwarting, Aiden Siebenthal, Peyton Swenson, Brock Waghorn, Cooper Williams and Landry Wilson.

The Jaguars took control of the game with a run in the first and a four-spot in the second inning for a 5-0 advantage early. Blue Springs South ultimately led 6-0 through five innings before Joplin got on the board.

Brecken Green had two hits, while Peyton Swenson added two hits, scored a run and drove in one for the Eagles. 

Wyatt Taylor earned the win on the mound for BSS after allowing two runs in 5 2/3 innings.

David Bhend took the loss after allowing five runs on four hits in two innings. Landry Wilson allowed two runs on two hits in four relief innings.
