Platte County sweeps Saturday twinbill to knock off Webb City

Platte County beat Webb City 4-3 and 6-5 on Saturday to rally for a 2-1 series win in the Class 5 quarterfinals.

The Cardinals finish the season with a 20-15 record and graduate seniors Andrew Young, Brock Renfro, William Piette, Austin Miller, Landon Fletcher, Cohen Epler, Brody Eggleston, Hudson Byrd and Luke Beverlin.


PLATTE COUNTY 4, WEBB CITY 3

The Pirates scored three times in the second inning and a run in the fourth, holding the Cardinals at bay in the later innings for a win in Game 2 of the series on Saturday.

Brooks Hall earned the win in relief after scattering three hits over 2 2/3 innings.

Luke Beverlin took the loss after allowing four runs, one earned, on seven hits in six innings.

Cohen Epler had three hits, while Andrew Young had two hits and scored a run.


PLATTE COUNTY 6, WEBB CITY 5

Webb City scored twice in the top of the ninth inning to take a 5-3 advantage before Platte County answered with three runs in the bottom of the ninth for a walk-off win in Game 3 of the series.

Mason Young had three hits and drove in two for Webb City, while Brock Renfro had two hits, drove in one and scored once.
