Joplin rolls through Sherman on Father’s Day

Joplin scored five runs in the first two innings to take a commanding lead before putting the game away with a five-run eighth inning in a 10-0 win over Sherman on Father’s Day.

The win gives the Outlaws a 12-4 record, while the Shadowcats slip to 15-2.

Conner Johnson earned the win for the Outlaws after pitching 6 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out 11.

Logan Garren took the loss after allowing five runs in an inning-plus. 

Joplin took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Maverick Williamson hit a two-run home run before Tyler Brodrick closed the scoring with an RBI single to right.

Ravaughn Morgan blasted a two-run home run in the second to push the lead to 5-0.

After five scoreless innings by both teams, Cy Darnell, Morgan, Murchael Turner and Landin Midgett all picked up RBI singles in the eighth to help put the game away for the Outlaws.
