The Joplin Outlaws split a pair of games with the Piney Woods Timberhogs.
Joplin earned a 5-2 win on Friday before Piney Woods before the final game was rained out on Sunday.
JOPLIN 5, PINEY WOODS 2
The Outlaws scored three times in the eighth inning and another run in the ninth to stamp the win against the Timberhogs on Friday.
Joplin’s three runs in the eighth were gifted, as two crossed the plate on an error and another on a wild pitch.
Murchael Turner had a hit, drove in a run and scored one run in the win to lead the Outlaws.
Will Newberry earned the win on the mound after allowing one run on three hits in six innings, striking out seven.
Beau Pasteur earned the three-inning save with one run allowed, three walks and a strikeout.
Andrew Grooters took the loss after allowing two runs, one earned, in 1 2/3 innings of work.
PINEY WOODS 6, JOPLIN 5
Joplin rallied with runs in each of the last four innings, but it wasn’t enough in a loss to Piney Woods on Saturday.
Mark Ross II had two hits and drove in a run, with Andre Jackson II had two hits and scored twice. Murchael Tuner homered and scored twice for Joplin.
Jackson Wilkerson earned the win after allowing two runs over six innings for the Timberhogs.
Kaylor Darnell took the loss after allowing four runs, three earned, in 5 2/3 innings.
Joplin hosts Piney Woods for the next three games, with the series getting started on $2 Tuesday, where fans can buy tickets and select conditions for $2 each. Kids 12 and under get in free. First pitch is set for 12:05 p.m.
