Early runs lead Outlaws past Timberhogs

The Joplin Outlaws scored in each of the first four innings to build a lead on the way to a 6-2 win over the Piney Woods Timberhogs on Thursday at Joe Becker Stadium.

Joplin pushed across two runs in the last of the first before adding single tallies in the second, third, and fourth innings to go ahead 5-2. The Outlaws added insurance in the eighth to seal the win.

Parker Wilson earned the win after allowing two runs on three its in five innings, with five strikeouts

Andrew Grooters took the loss after allowing five runs on 10 hits in seven innings.

Cy Darnell homered and drove in two for the Outlaws at the plate, while Evan Aslaksen had three hits and drove in one. Landin Midgett had two hits, scored a run and drove in a run, while Blake Wilson had two hits and scored one. 

Joplin opens a series with Abilene tonight at 7:05 at Joe Becker Stadium.
