Big inning fuels Joplin Outlaws win over Texarkana Rhinos

The Joplin Outlaws used a six-run fourth inning as the catalyst in a 14-2 win in seven innings over the Texarkana Rhinos on Sunday.

Leading 2-1, the Outlaws used RBI singles from Andre Jackson II and Landin Midgett in the fourth inning to build an 8-2 advantage. Joplin added runs on an error, a balk and a sac fly.

The Outlaws added on with three runs in the fifth and three more in the seventh to seal the win.

Walker Sweet earned the win on the mound after allowing two runs on four hits, four walks and five strikeouts in six innings.

Chance Reed took the loss after allowing eight runs, seven earned, on 12 hits in 3 1/3 innings.

Jackson II led the Outlaws with three hits, three runs scored and two RBI, while Evan Aslaksen had three hits, drove in four and scored twice. Midgett finished with two hits, three RBI and a run scored.

The Outlaws are currently in first place in the Mid America League standings with a 25-9 record. 

Joplin is on the road facing the Piney Woods TimberHogs on Tuesday at 7.
