Joplin Outlaws rout Fort Smith Marshals in 13-2 Victory

JOPLIN, Mo. — The Joplin Outlaws (31-10) dominated the Fort Smith Marshals (16-25) with a commanding 13-2 win on Tuesday at Joe Becker Stadium.

The Outlaws wasted no time, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Andre Jackson II and Tyler Brodrick scored on an error by Marshals’ second baseman Caleb Johnson, followed by an RBI single from Anthony Mazza. Joplin continued their onslaught in the second, plating three more runs as Brodrick drove in Jackson II, who reached base after a single. Landin Midgett and Murchael Turner added RBIs to push the lead to 6-0.

Joplin’s Ravaughn Morgan scored in the third on a sacrifice fly by Blake Wilson. 

The fifth inning saw Mark Ross II and Garrett Springer contribute RBIs, while Jackson II added another with a single, making it 10-0. 

Morgan capped the scoring with a two-run homer in the eighth, finishing with a team-high two RBIs and a double to go along with his blast.

Keaton Anderson earned the win after allowing two runs on eight hits in six innings with six strikeouts.

Gabriel Johnson took the loss after allowing six runs, five earned, on five hits in two innings.

Joplin hosts Fort Smith today in a twinbill with a 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. matchup.
