TJ Girls Tennis Dominates Carl Junction 7-2, Improves to 2-0

JOPLIN, Mo. – The Thomas Jefferson girls tennis team continued their strong start to the 2025 season, defeating Carl Junction 7-2 at the Joplin Sports Complex and improving their record to 2-0 in the process.

In singles, Thomas Jefferson asserted dominance early. Esther Yang led the way, defeating Brooklin Leggett 8-3 at No. 1 singles, while Sara Maksoud edged out Brooke Jasperson 8-6 at No. 2. Madelyn Ro secured an 8-6 victory over Olivia Bakos at No. 3, and Jenna Joseph battled to a thrilling 9-8 (7-1 tiebreaker) win against Valeria Figueroa at No. 4. Lucy Lowery fell 3-8 to Emma Strickland at No. 5, but Audrey Bowles closed out singles play with a commanding 8-0 shutout over Hailey Hunter at No. 6.

The Cavaliers carried their momentum into doubles, where Yang and Maksoud overwhelmed Leggett and Jasperson 8-1 at No. 1. Lowery and Bowles secured an 8-4 win over Strickland and Hunter at No. 3. Carl Junction salvaged a point at No. 2 doubles, with Bakos and Figueroa defeating Ro and Joseph 8-4.
