BRANSON, Mo. – The Carl Junction boys soccer team kept their undefeated streak alive, improving to 5-0 with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Branson on Tuesday, secured in a 3-0 penalty kick shootout after a late equalizer in regulation.
Branson struck first, finding the back of the net midway through the first half to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Despite the deficit, Carl Junction battled back in the second half. With less than four minutes remaining in regulation, Zach Teeter delivered the equalizer, capitalizing on a perfectly placed corner kick from Kale Trospers to knot the score at 1-1.
The match remained deadlocked through two scoreless overtime periods, forcing a penalty kick shootout. Carl Junction converted three penalty kicks while their defense stonewalled Branson, securing a 3-0 shootout win and the 2-1 match victory.
Carl Junction looks to continue their winning ways when they face Rogersville on the road next Tuesday.
