JOPLIN, Mo. — The Joplin High School girls tennis team delivered a commanding performance against Neosho on Thursday evening, securing a decisive victory in both varsity and junior varsity matches. The Eagles soared to a near-flawless win, with the varsity squad showcasing their skill and teamwork, while the JV team posted an astonishing 29-1 record.

In singles play, Joplin’s players set the tone early. Julia Reyes led the charge, defeating Chloe Standefer 8-3, while Lylah Fry mirrored the intensity with an 8-3 win over Hailey Standefer. Kylea Thullesen outlasted Marley Whittington 8-5, and Lily Compton dominated Emma Brill with a shutout 8-0. Elaina Ramos battled to an 8-6 victory against Belinda Mercado, and Louisa Curchin capped the singles sweep with an 8-0 rout of Mackenzie Motley.

The doubles matches were equally one-sided, as Joplin’s pairs showcased their chemistry. Julia Reyes and Lily Compton edged out the Standefer sisters 9-8 in a thrilling tiebreaker (7-3). Lylah Fry and Louisa Curchin cruised past Whittington and Motley 8-2, while Kylea Thullesen and Elaina Ramos overwhelmed Brill and Mercado 8-1.

The JV squad was nearly untouchable, racking up a 29-1 record in their matches, further solidifying Joplin’s depth and talent across the board.
