JOPLIN, Mo. — The Carthage Tigers girls golf team dominated the Joplin Lady Eagle Invitational on Tuesday, firing a blistering team total of 365 to claim the championship at Schifferdecker Golf Course. The victory marks a strong statement for the Class 4, District 3 powerhouse as they gear up for the heart of the season.
In a field stacked with regional rivals, Carthage held off a challenge from the Webb City Cardinals, who carded 383 strokes to secure second place. The Carl Junction Bulldogs rounded out the podium in third with 393, showcasing the depth of talent in District 3. Host Joplin Eagles, competing in Class 4, District 3, finished fourth at 402, while El Dorado Springs Bulldogs (Class 1, District 1) impressed with a fifth-place score of 404.
The rest of the top 10 featured Mount Vernon Mountaineers in sixth at 436, Neosho Wildcats in seventh at 440, Monett Cubs in ninth at 488, and Seneca Indians in 10th at 495.
On the individual front, Carthage senior Addie Foust stole the show, firing a stellar 74 to earn medalist honors and set the tone for her team's triumph. Foust's precision on the greens proved the difference, as she navigated the challenging Schifferdecker layout with birdies on key holes.
Mount Vernon's Emily Schubert (JR) took runner-up laurels with an 84, while Carl Junction's Lyric Belcher (JR) claimed third at 87. Joplin's Scarlett Satterlee (SR) posted a solid 90 for fourth, followed by a tie at 92 between Webb City's Violet Haut (SO) and McDonald County's Raygan Allgood (SR) for fifth and sixth.
El Dorado Springs' Tilar Witt (JR) and Carthage's Molly Comer (SO) shared seventh at 93, with Carl Junction's Rylie Matyi (JR) in ninth at 94. Rounding out the top 10 was Webb City's Brooklyn Cartwright (SR) and Joplin's Reid Stanley (JR) at 96.
