New Heights Christian setter Caitlin Meppelink and McDonald County quarterback Ryder Martin are this week’s Zimmer Marketing’s Male and Female Athletes of the Week brought to you by JL Mobile Truck and Trailer Repair.
Meppelink had a strong showing in district play. Against Golden City in the opener, Meppelink tallied 24 assists offensively and added 13 digs on the defensive end. Two days later, Meppelink recorded 34 assists in a win over Thomas Jefferson Independent. She also had 11 digs and three blocks on defense.
Martin had a strong game through the air and on the ground to wrap up the regular season for the Mustangs in a 28-0 win over East Newton. He completed 16-of-23 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown, while picking up 124 yards and two rushing touchdowns on 15 carries. Defensively, Martin added seven total tackles.
