NIXA, MO — Runners from Webb City, Joplin and Carthage took part in the boys MSHSAA Class 5 District 2 Cross Country Championships over the weekend.

Webb City Secures Fifth with Tight Pack

Webb City’s boys’ team delivered an impressive performance, finishing fifth overall with 96 points and a remarkable 0:40 split between their top five runners. Sophomore Noah Lankard led the Cardinals with a 13th-place finish in 15:57.95, closely followed by Andrew Dawson (16:01.95, 16th), James Dalrymple (16:05.07, 17th), Aaron Dawson (16:12.23, 19th), and James Baldassaro (16:38.90, 31st). Rylan Davis (16:49.62, 38th) also contributed to the team’s depth.


Joplin Battles to Eighth Place

Joplin’s boys’ team placed eighth with 259 points, showing resilience with a tight 0:29 split and an average time of 17:16. Brady Honeycutt paced the Eagles, finishing 45th in 17:00.26. Close behind were Jacob Tatum (17:14.41, 51st), Noe Fischer (17:14.43, 52nd), Adam Meier (17:22.38, 56th), and Eli Sneddon (17:29.94, 60th). 


Carthage Fights Hard for 13th

Carthage’s boys secured 13th place with 364 points, led by sophomore Javen Byrd, who finished 48th in 17:12.39. The Tigers’ scoring was rounded out by Carter Moser (17:40.76, 66th), Devin Smith (18:06.30, 78th), Isaac Lankford (18:25.41, 85th), and Marlon Kubicek (18:42.10, 93rd), with Ryder Reding (19:03.90, 102nd) and Wyatt Reed (19:23.22, 106th) also contributing.
