Joplin Girls Wrestling Finishes 7th Overall at Bentonville West Invitational
The Joplin High School girls wrestling team competed in the Bentonville West Invitational on Friday, December 12, placing five wrestlers on the podium and earning 7th place overall with 76 team points despite filling only seven of the 14 weight classes.
Ilannah Burtrum dominated the 235-pound division, capturing first place with four consecutive pins. She defeated opponents from Bentonville High, Cabot, Bentonville High again, and host Bentonville West, with her quickest fall coming in just 42 seconds.
Maliah Winnett placed fourth at 105 pounds, recording multiple pins and decisions throughout the tournament. Blayke Holmes also finished fourth at 135 pounds, securing falls against wrestlers from Fayetteville and Springdale.
Addison Palmer took fifth place at 115 pounds with several pin victories, while Anie Spiering earned fifth at 120 pounds, highlighted by quick falls over opponents from Springdale and others.
The tournament featured competition from schools across Arkansas, including Bentonville High, Bentonville West, Cabot, Rogers, and Springdale.
Joplin's seventh-place team finish underscores the program's depth in limited weight classes as the season progresses.
