Carthage wrestler Kaylee James and Nevada basketball player Mason Majors have been named the Zimmer Marketing Female and Male Athlete of the Week brought to you by JL Mobile Truck and Trailer Repair.
James, a sophomore, had an impressive Class 2 District 3 Tournament, making quick work of all of her opponents on the way to a first-place finish at 140 pounds, earning a trip to the state tournament in the process. James (47-1) beat Nixa’s Isabel Diaz-Rubin by fall 58 seconds in the first round in the quarterfinals before beating Branson’s Andrea Menjivar by fall 1:12 into the first round. In the first-place match, James added a win by fall over Webb City’s Sierra Devore 1:44 into the first period.
Majors, a senior, had an impressive week while leading the Tigers to a 2-0 record with a 74-53 win over Pleasant Hill and a 58-51 win over East Newton. In the win against Pleasant Hill, Majors scored a team-high 26 points to go along with four assists and five steals on the defensive end. Majors followed that performance up with a 28-point effort against the Patriots. Majors added seven rebounds and two steals in the win.
