Seneca dominates districts and sends several to state meet

The Seneca Indians dominated the MSHSAA Class 2 District 3 Boys Wrestling Tournament over the weekend, sending a league-high 10 wrestlers to the state championships while capturing multiple individual titles.

Seneca led the charge with champions in several divisions: Aiden Wilson (113 lbs, fall in 1:26 final), Caden Groom (132 lbs, fall in 2:36), Eli Manley (138 lbs, technical fall 17-2 in 3:45), Brant Laughlin (144 lbs, fall in 3:37), Dawson Manley (150 lbs, decision 12-9), Jace Renfro (190 lbs, fall in 2:26), and Taylor Barwick (285 lbs, decision 2-1). Additional Seneca placers included Koda Neilson (3rd at 106 lbs, fall in 2:23), Hudsyn Russell (3rd at 126 lbs, fall in 1:47), and others rounding out their strong showing.

Nevada's wrestlers also performed well, securing three state qualifiers. Dj Glidewell claimed the 215 lbs title with a decision (10-4) over Joshua Carpenter of St. James. Brayden Morgan took 3rd at 157 lbs (fall in 2:39 over Tyler Hodge of Cassville), and Ryan Hardin earned 3rd at 165 lbs (decision 2-1 over Lucas Fletcher of Buffalo). Gavyn Tena placed 4th at 113 lbs.

The Class 2 state meet is scheduled for Feb. 25 at Missouri Arena in Columbia.
