SPRINGFIELD — The Joplin Eagles boys golf team traveled to Bill & Payne Stewart Golf Course on Thursday to compete in the Missouri State Relays.

In his first varsity appearance, sophomore Landon Carter led the Eagles with a strong performance, carding a personal-best round of 80. Senior Toby Ipsen and sophomore Kai Benfield each shot an 87, while senior Jordan Bozarth posted a 92. Freshman Evan Iseli rounded out the scoring with a 101.

The Eagles’ team total of 346 placed them in the competitive field at the annual event held on the historic Springfield course.

Carter’s breakout round highlighted a solid effort from the young Eagles squad, which features a mix of experienced seniors and promising underclassmen. The team will look to build on this performance as the season continues.
