GRANBY, Mo. — Several standout performances from area schools highlighted the East Newton track and field meet, with athletes from Thomas Jefferson, Seneca, McDonald County, and Diamond delivering strong showings across multiple events.Thomas Jefferson had an impressive day in the distance events.
On the boys’ side, Liam Cook (11) and Jack Twiss (11) went 1-2 in the 400 meters with times of 52.00 and 52.39 seconds. William Twiss (10) won the 1600 meters in 4:40.85, while Spencer Long (11) took first in the 3200 meters at 10:48.30. The boys’ 4x800 relay team also claimed gold with a time of 8:20.96.
On the girls’ side, Vivian Sharp (11) finished second in both the 800 (2:36.45) and 1600 (5:44.97) meters, and the girls’ 4x400 and 4x800 relays placed second. Anna Hiebert took third in the high jump at 1.42m.
Seneca showed strength in the sprints and throws. Savannah Johnson (12) and Jacie Bard (11) took third and fourth in both the girls’ 100 and 200 meters. Anna Adkins (12) won the girls’ high jump at 1.50m.
In the boys’ throws, Brock Pendergraft (12) placed fourth in shot put (14.45m) and second in discus (45.89m).
McDonald County had several notable placings. Leah Nix (10) finished fourth in the girls’ 400 meters (1:05.87) and third in pole vault (2.46m). Layla Wallain (12) took second in the girls’ high jump at 1.47m.
On the boys’ side, Malik Willis (10) placed seventh in the 400 meters.Diamond athletes contributed solid efforts throughout the meet. Ava Jones (12) placed eighth in the girls’ 100 meters (14.26) and seventh in the 200 meters (29.46). In the field events, Aspen Daniel (12) took sixth in the girls’ 100m hurdles.
