CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — Carthage volleyball fought off an early deficit on the road Tuesday night, rallying past Carl Junction in four sets at Carl Junction High School.
The Bulldogs grabbed the early lead, putting the Tigers on their heels with steady play at the net. That did not last. Carthage regrouped, chipped away at the gap, and leaned on its attack through the middle to swing the tempo.
London Shepard delivered the turning point for Carthage, burying a heavy kill straight down the center to hand the Tigers a lead they would not surrender.
Carl Junction did not go quietly. Tally Huffman threw up a block in the middle to halt a Carthage run and kick-start a late rally. Outside hitter Mattie Huffman followed with a spike off the edge to keep the Bulldogs within striking distance, but the Tigers held firm down the stretch, closing out the match in four frames
