Luke Moss scored twice before the break to erase an early deficit as Pittsburg pulled away for a 4-2 victory over Carl Junction, keeping the Purple Dragons atop their district table.
Carl Junction struck first when Mason Cowger uncorked a shot from beyond the 18-yard box, beating the Pittsburg keeper and putting the Bulldogs up 1-0 in the opening minutes.
The early punch shook the Dragons awake. Pittsburg clamped down on defense, seized control of the midfield, and went to work through Moss. The striker buried the equalizer midway through the frame, then struck again just before halftime to send Pittsburg into the locker room with a 2-1 lead.
The Dragons carried that momentum through the second half, tacking on two more insurance goals to seal the win.
Pittsburg (5-2-1) stays in first place in the district standings and heads on the road to face Independence on Sept. 29. Carl Junction drops to 3-7 on the season and looks to regroup at home against Hillcrest.
