BOLIVAR, Mo. — The Joplin High School varsity softball team capped off an undefeated Saturday tournament run on October 10, dispatching Cassville 6-2 in neutral-site action at Bolivar High School.
The victory closed out a two-game weekend sweep for the Lady Eagles, who earlier in the afternoon held off host Bolivar in an 8-7 battle.
Against Cassville, Joplin controlled the pace from the early frames. Crisp defensive execution and steady situational hitting kept the Wildcats off balance, limiting scoring chances and keeping Cassville out of striking distance down the stretch.
Joplin carried the momentum straight from its morning contest, where the Lady Eagles built an early lead and survived a late-inning push by the Liberators to claim the one-run decision. Rather than slowing down during the quick turnaround, Joplin jumped ahead of Cassville early and protected the lead the rest of the way.
The two-win road trip pushes Joplin into the next leg of its late-season schedule with consecutive wins away from home.
