CARL JUNCTION, Mo. — Despite an early equalizer, Carl Junction couldn’t contain Joplin’s relentless attack, falling 5-2 on Tuesday.
The Eagles set the tone early when forward Landon Frounfelter found the back of the net, though the Bulldogs responded before the break to draw level at 1-1. Joplin, however, dictated the tempo on both sides of the ball throughout the match, dominating possession and consistently testing Carl Junction’s back line with a steady barrage of shots and set pieces.
The floodgates opened after halftime. Briar Ledford broke the deadlock with a long-range blast that deflected off CJ goalkeeper Van Wohlenhaus into the net, sparking a four-goal second-half outburst for the Eagles. Carl Junction added a late consolation goal, but Joplin's offensive surge proved insurmountable.
Next up, Joplin squares off against Webb City, while Carl Junction looks to rebound against Cassville.
