District tournament softball opens this week across the Four States, and Webb City is rolling into postseason play with a new voice in the dugout and 20 regular-season wins in the book.
The Cardinals enter the Class 5 District 6 tournament as the No. 3 seed under first-year head coach Kathy Harris. While Harris is in her inaugural campaign running the program, she is no stranger to the roster, having spent years as the team's top assistant before taking the helm this spring.
That familiarity paid immediate dividends. Webb City paired its 20-win campaign with an aggressive, self-assured approach at the plate and on the basepaths—a mindset players credit for keeping them competitive against the state's top arms.
